Safety Edge Is Affected By The Environment

In actual working conditions, the reliable operation of the safety contact edge is often disturbed by various factors in the environment. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity, accumulation of dust, erosion by corrosive substances, and impact of mechanical forces may cause its sensitivity to decrease, malfunction or even complete failure, which will bury hidden dangers to the normal operation of the equipment and on-site safety. The following is an analysis based on several typical environmental scenarios (1):

news-1-1

When in a humid or watery environment, the safety contact edge is prone to false triggering, failure to reset, or even short circuit tripping.z z This is often because the protection level of the contact edge itself does not reach IP65 or above, making it difficult to resist the intrusion of water vapor. In addition, the sealing structure fails or the shell ages and cracks due to long-term use, allowing moisture to enter. To solve this problem, it is necessary to replace the contact edge with a protection level of IP67 or above, and use waterproof joints and sealants to strengthen the sealing effect, and regularly check the integrity of the sealing parts.

In an environment with a lot of dust or particles, the contact edge may show problems such as slow triggering and contact adhesion. This is due to dust intrusion into the contact edge. Insulating dust can hinder the transmission of trigger signals, while conductive dust can cause false triggering. This, coupled with poor sealing performance of the housing, further exacerbates dust intrusion. To address this, choose an IP6X-rated seamless contact edge, which effectively blocks dust intrusion. Also, install a dust shield and regularly purge the contact edge to reduce dust accumulation.
