The 29th International Lidar Conference Was Held In China For The First Time

On June 24, the 29th International Lidar Conference (hereinafter referred to as ILRC29) hosted by the Anhui Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics (hereinafter referred to as the Anguang Institute) of the Hefei Institute of Material Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences opened in Hefei, Anhui. More than 500 experts and scholars from more than 30 countries around the world gather fertilizers to discuss new technologies and new methods for the development of the lidar industry. This is also the first time that the International Lidar Conference has been held in China.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Liu Dong, Deputy Director of the Atmospheric Optics Research Center of Anguang Institute, Professor Alex Papayannis, Chairman of the International Laser Atmospheric Observation Committee, Wang Minsheng, Deputy Mayor of Hefei, and Wang Yingjian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Hefei Institute of Material Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, respectively.

The conference will be held from June 24 to June 28. The content of the meeting will include keynote reports, invited reports, oral reports, posters and other links. The topics of the report will involve new technologies and methods of lidar, atmospheric boundary layer and pollution, Atmospheric water vapor and temperature measurement, greenhouse gas and trace gas monitoring, lidar networks and applications, spaceborne lidar, etc., aim to promote the development of global lidar technology. On the opening day, Professor Ken Jucks of NASA’s Earth Science Department gave a keynote presentation on NASA’s various observation programs using active optical remote sensing; June 26, Wang Yingjian will make a keynote presentation on Hefei research The research progress of the Institute's atmospheric detection lidar and the latest progress of the plan to build an atmospheric multi-parameter high-resolution lidar detection device.

ILRC29 is a large-scale international conference with the largest global influence and the highest specifications in the field of atmospheric sounding lidar. It is organized by the International Laser Atmospheric Sounding Committee and held every two years. Its members are mainly from the United States, Europe, Japan, Russia, Canada, Latin America, China and other countries are composed of 1 chairman and 13 members, of which the Chinese members are experts from Anguang Institute, which is also the only member unit of the International Laser Atmospheric Observation Committee in China. Since June 2017, the Chinese member has been researcher Liu Dong from the Atmospheric Optics Research Center of Anguang Institute.
